It’s no ordinary day for Vanessa Carlton.
The 29-year-old singer-songwriter came out at the Nashville Pride Festival this weekend to a crowd of 18,000, the Huffington Post reports.
“I’ve never said this before, but I am a proud bisexual woman,” she told the audience as she hit the stage Saturday.
The musician who scored hits with singles “A Thousand Miles” and “Ordinary Day” has been tied to John Mayer and Third Eye Blind front man Stephan Jenkins.
Carlton is taking her cue from “True Blood” star Anna Paquin, who announced she was bisexual in April during a PSA for True Colors Fund.
A series of musicians have also recently come out of the closet. Ricky Martin announced he was gay in March, while Chely Wright became one of the first country music stars to come out when she announced she was a lesbian in May.
