Carefree and introverted? Apparently so! Ashley Tisdale and Aly Michalka are the newest cover gals for the October issue of Seventeen. You can grab your copy of the issue on Tuesday, September 14, 2010. Their new show on The CW premieres September 8, 2010. They may be playing cheerleaders, but they’re not competitive and actually have some introverted ways!
Ashley on those fearless cheerleaders: “I definitely think cheerleaders have no fear. When I took the Hellcats job I was like whoa, this is a sport. Cheerleaders deserve a lot of respect for what they do.” – Ashley Tisdale
Michalka on not being competitive: “When it comes to my sister [AJ] and I, I think the most shocking thing that people find out about us is the fact that we’re not competitive at all. We’ve actually auditioned for films for the same role together, and we’re not competitive. I think it’s because I would rather her get a job than anybody else if it wasn’t me.” – Aly Michalka
On Tisdale’s surprisingly introverted ways: “I know I come off like a very outgoing person, and yeah, I’m outgoing, but there’s also a part of me that still likes to be in my little shell sometimes.” – Ashley Tisdale
How Tisdale’s like her character: “I’m a very positive person, that’s something that’s like my character Savannah. She’s very positive in everything that she does and I’m the same way in real life. If I feel like someone’s trying to bring me down, I just walk away from it. I just ignore it because sometimes when that happens you can get so involved that it does bring down your day.” – Ashley Tisdale
Alyson Renae Michalka (born March 25, 1989), often credited as Aly, is an American actress, singer-songwriter, guitarist, and pianist. She is perhaps best known for her roles as Keely Teslow in the Disney Channel Original Series, Phil of the Future, Charlotte Barnes in the feature film Bandslam, Taylor Callum in the Disney Channel Original Movie Cow Belles and as Marti Perkins in the upcoming CW series Hellcats. She is also known as one-half of the musical duo 78violet (formerly Aly & AJ) with her sister Amanda Michalka. It’s said that she will appear as Tracy Morgan in the upcoming thriller, The Roommate.
Michalka was born in Torrance, California and grew up in Seattle, Washington and Southern California with her sister Amanda Michalka. Her mother, Carrie, is a musician and performed with JC Band, a Christian band. Michalka has been playing the piano since she was five and started playing the guitar at the age of thirteen. She started acting when she was five years old, mostly in church play productions. She was raised as a Christian and continues to practice the faith.
Michalka’s acting debut came when she was cast in the role of Keely Teslow on the Disney Channel Original Series, Phil of the Future. She has also starred in the Disney Channel Original Movies Now You See It…, in which she plays Allyson Miller, an ambitious television producer, and Cow Belles, in which she appears opposite her sister. She announced via her MySpace that she had booked a leading role in the Walden Media film Bandslam, about a group of misfits who form a rock band. She co-starred with Vanessa Hudgens and the movie was released in August 2009. Her sister Amanda is featured in the Peter Jackson film The Lovely Bones. Michalka and her sister comprise the musical duo 78violet, and released their first album, Into the Rush, on August 16, 2005. The next year, they brought out a holiday album in September, covering 9 tracks, along with two originals, titled Acoustic Hearts of Winter. In July 2007, their album, Insomniatic, hit stores, featuring the American top 20 hit single, “Potential Breakup Song“. The two were working on a new album, to be released in the early 2010. However, they left their label so the release date has been postponed.
