Linday Lohan was sentenced to 90 days in jail and 90 days in rehab by a judge in Beverly Hills, after it was ruled she had violated the terms of her probation following her 2007 conviction for Driving Under the influence (DUI). Lindsay breached her court order by not attending enough alcohol education classes, and burst into tears when she was sentenced.

Yesterday, attorney Shawn Chapman Holley – who represented Lindsay in court – released a statement saying she and Lindsay were both “disappointed” with the sentence. She insisted Lindsay was treated more harshly than other defendants in her position would have been, and maintained she did all she could to balance work commitments and her court order. She added Lindsay was prepared to go to prison.

However, later in the day it was claimed Shawn is no longer representing Lindsay. No official reason for her reported departure has been given, although it has been claimed she left after discovering Lindsay was looking for another lawyer. The star is said to be considering working with Tiffany Feder-Cohen, who was only admitted to the bar in November.

Lindsay’s mother Dina has now spoken about her daughter’s impending jail time, saying she thinks Shawn could have done more while in court.

“If she [Judge Marsha Revel] wants a trial, then make it a fair trial,” Dina told ET Online for their programme Lindsay Through Her Mother’s Eyes, which starts airing tonight. “I feel like Shawn should have stood up and said, ‘Listen, I didn’t know you were going to have witnesses.’ We would have had ten witnesses. We didn’t get a shot. We didn’t get a shot at fairness.”

Dina explained Lindsay is petrified of being incarcerated, and the family are all holding out hope she won’t have to go. She hinted the star is looking for a new legal team, saying they are all hoping fresh eyes might help alter the outcome.

“Lindsay’s scared to death. You know, she’s strong, but until someone faces something as devastating as that…we’re going to have to see. God willing, it won’t happen. It’s very difficult, we’re not sleeping well, we’re not functioning. We cry a lot and we hug a lot. She’s petrified, we all are. We’re angry. We’re disappointed in the system” she said.

Dina added her daughter is planning to appeal the decision. “She’s a fighter, and until the final result – we’re not giving up,” she explained. “I think it’s time we get another attorney just to see it from another light and do damage control.”

She explained she and Lindsay have been spending every evening looking at court documents and other legal information. Dina says Lindsay was “blindsided” by the decision, as she genuinely thought she was in compliance with her parole. She believes Judge Revel was wrong to let cameras film what happened in the court, and is angry Lindsay was made a “spectacle” of.

Lindsay is expected to serve her time in the Century Regional Detention Facility, in Lynwood, California. If she does go there, she will be banned from wearing hair extensions and make-up, and won’t be allowed to smoke cigarettes.

Ages 0 to 27 are ruled by the sum of the first three letters of the name and the month of birth.

Lindsay Lohan      July 2nd, 1984

12 (L is the 12th letter of the alphabet) + 9 (i is the 9th letter of the alphabet) + 14 (n is the 14th letter of the alphabet) + 7 (July) = 42

So from ages zero to twenty-seven she has the numbers 7 (July), 35 (sum of the first three letters of the name), and 42 (7+35=42) going on.

7 = The need for self-control.

35 =  Persevere.  Be prepared.  Forewarned is forearmed.  Hang in there.  The long haul.  Strength in adversity.  Strength in reserve.  Keep on doing what you’re doing.  Stick with it.  Never give up.  Not giving up.  Don’t quit.  Don’t stop.  So far, so good.  Don’t switch horses midstream.  If you’re in love then nothing else matters, if you’re not in love then nothing else matters.  To be continued.  I’ve got your back.  Heads up.  Head wound.  Being caught off guard.  On guard!  It’s better to warn than to be warned.  They that get the next best are not ill off.  It’s easy to hold the fort when it’s not attacked.  Hang around.  Longest lasting.  Keeps going and going.  On and on.  An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.  Shake it off.  Stuck between a rock and a hard place.  Wearing me out.  I’m worn out.  Bare bones.  Been through hell and back.  Taking a toll.  Cutting it short.  Threatening to quit.  I quit.  I give up.  I can’t go on.  Throwing in the towel.  Give up (on).  That didn’t last long.

42 = Relationships.  Love.  Deep sharing.  Beautiful.  Loving relationships.  True love.  Lovers.  Couples.  Consorts.  Significant other.  Spouse.  Bride & groom.  Wedding.  Marriage.  Matrimony.  Amorous.  Kissing.  Making love.  Having sex.  Mating.  Procreating.  Copulation.  Conjugal.  Reproduction.  Matching.  Compatibility.  Mutuality.  Reciprocal.  Consensual.  Permission.  Likewise.  Allies.  Allegiance.  Companion.  Companionship.  Together.  Twosome.  Bond(ing).  Connect.  Promiscuity.  Misunderstandings.

Last month, Nikolai Ivanisovich, a 62-year old Russian man with brain cancer, supposedly sold the rights to broadcast his euthanasia to BattleCam.com, a 24/7 reality TV website. The proceeds were reportedly enough to take care of his surviving family. It turned out to be an elaborate publicity stunt, but society has become so used to it no one batted an eye. In June, BBC2 broadcast a documentary showing the suicide of terminally ill Peter Smedley, including his pitiful cries for water that were refused by the doctor.

A disturbing trend has developed over the last few years of broadcasting the suicides of the weak and elderly in society for entertainment. Much of it is due to the glamorization of assisted suicide by a Swiss suicide clinic known as Dignitas. London’s Sky TV broadcast one of the first assisted suicides on TV at Dignitas in 2008 in the documentary “Right to Die?” Located in the beautiful mountains of Zurich, with Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony playing in the background at the patient’s request, the clinic provided a false picture of what assisted suicide is really about. In contrast, the BBC2 documentary “Choosing to Die” purposely left out the details of a second terminally ill suicide performed at Dignitas, because the patient took 90 minutes to die, prompting the staff to instruct his mother not to hug him because it was prolonging his life. Euthanasia proponents selectively choose what to show in order to mislead the public.

Two assisted suicides recently broadcast on television were of people with Motor Neurone Disease. This disease includes amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), known in the U.S. as Lou Gehrig’s disease. Patients diagnosed with it gradually lose use of their muscles, motor functions and become weak. Life expectancy after diagnosis is two to five years, and death can be due to suffocation.

However, doctors are not always right. Miracles can happen. Professor Stephen Hawking was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease in his 20s and told he would not live to see age 30. He is now 69 and is considered one of the most prominent and brilliant scientists of this era, making important contributions in the areas of cosmology, gravity and black holes.
