Jul 25, 2011 – Former Kentucky Wildcats swingman Desmond Allison, 30, was murdered in Columbus, Ohio Monday afternoon, ABC 36 News reports. He was reportedly shot in the chest before being taken to a nearby hospital, where he was declared dead. According to the report, the gunfire may have been the result of “an argument between two women.”

Allison played for Kentucky in 1998-99 and 1999-00. The Tampa, Florida native played in 67 games, averaging 6.1 points and 2.8 rebounds per contest. He entered the school as one of the top 75 recruits in the nation.

Unfortunately, he had a rocky time during much of his post-Kentucky life. After having to leave UK due to a number of violations, including a DUI arrest, the death of a friend inspired him to try playing college football at Division II South Dakota at the age of 25, where he excelled and began to rebuild his life. In 2007, however, he was jailed for a probation violation in relation to one of his four 2004 arrests.

At the time, he was reportedly pursuing playing basketball in Asia.
