It seemed she was on the verge of model stardom until her mother slammed on the breaks.
But Cindy Crawford’s daughter Kaia is continuing to blossom, and will surely be ready when her parents decide the 10-year-old is ready to go in front of the camera again.
She was dwarfed by her 5ft 9in mother as they enjoyed a day out in the celebrity enclave of Malibu.

But she has clearly inherited the beauty that made Cindy, 46, one of the world’s highest paid models.
The pair shared a joke as they visited Nobu in the summer sunshine with Cindy’s son, Presley, 13.
And if Kaia, who turns 11 on Sunday, is frustrated that her gig modelling Versace’s children’s range earlier this will be her last for a while, she certainly did not appear so.
Kaia, whose businessman father Rande Gerber was also a model, was picked by the label to showcase the range after the launch of the first Young Versace boutique in Milan.

Following in the footsteps of her supermodel mother, who was a muse of the late Gianni Versace, she wore highlights from the designer range which caters to children up to the age of 12.
But despite the widespread use of pre-teen models Cindy had a change of heart about her daughter embarking on working so young.
In February said: ‘At this point, she’s too young to pursue a career. There aren’t even a handful of jobs for a 10-year-old girl.’

However, the mother-of-two, who herself was discovered by a photographer aged 16, says it is fine if Kaia wants to pursue modelling later in life.
She added: ‘But if she’s 17 and wants to try it, of course, what can I say?
‘She kind of jokingly said – I’m not even sure if it was jokingly – “I might model first because you don’t have to know how to do anything, but then I want to be a baby nurse.”‘
