Anne Hathaway may be behind in planning her wedding, but new gossip suggests she’s at least nailed down the most vital part of every girl’s big day: what she’ll be wearing.

Designer Valentino Garavani told E! News on Thursday at the New York City ballet fall gala that he “did the dress” for Hathaway’s upcoming nuptials. Yay!

“She’s a very good friend of mine,” Valentino raved to E! about the “Les Miserables” star. “She’s like my daughter!”

Hathaway, 29, revealed her engagement to actor Adam Shulman in November 2011, flaunting the huge sparkler designed by Shulman himself. Valentino and Hathaway, of course, are long-term pals. Garavani crowned her the “godmother” of his virtual museum launch last year, and Hathaway frequently pops up on chi-chi red carpets wearing the designer’s creations, so we’re not shocked that she wants Valentino to craft her the most important couture she’ll ever wear.

But unfortunately, the Valentino frock is the only thing that’s slipped about Hathaway’s wedding, as she’s keeping the whole thing mum — she claims she’s been “too busy” to plan it. A diversion, perhaps? If there’s already a bespoke Valentino gown hanging in Anne’s closet, maybe she’ll be walking down the aisle sooner than we think.

Franco, who currently can be seen in “127 Hours,” will be making his second appearance on an Oscar telecast. His other film credits include “Eat, Pray, Love,” “Date Night,” “Milk” and “Pineapple Express.” Franco is also known for his portrayals of Harry Osborn in the “Spider-Man” trilogy.

Hathaway will be making her fifth appearance on an Academy Awards telecast. She was recently seen in “Alice in Wonderland” and currently can be seen in “Love and Other Drugs.” Hathaway’s other film credits include “Bride Wars,” “Becoming Jane,” “The Devil Wears Prada” and “The Princess Diaries.” She was nominated for an Oscar in 2008 for her lead performance in “Rachel Getting Married.”

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced today, via press release, that actors James Franco (127 Hours) and Anne Hathaway (Love and Other Drugs) will be hosting the 83rd Academy Awards ceremony on February 27th, 2011. The move to younger talent surely comes as an effort to get a younger demographic to watch the awards telecast which has been falling in ratings for years. Though Hathaway and Franco have appeared prominently in previous ceremonies, this will obviously mark the first time either has hosted the big event.Previously Hathaway showed off her vocal talents in a musical number with ceremony host Hugh Jackman (amongst other presenting appearances). Franco has only appeared at the awards once previously in the form of a hilarious pre-taped sketch featuring his character from Pineapple Express chilling out with co-star Seth Rogen (also in character) and famed cinematographer Janusz Kaminski. Oscar telecast producers Bruce Cohen and Don Mischer are very pleased to have both talents aboard saying, “James Franco and Anne Hathaway personify the next generation of Hollywood icons— fresh, exciting and multi-talented. We hope to create an Oscar broadcast that will both showcase their incredible talents and entertain the world on February 27.”

Surely the telecast will use Hathaway’s musical talents at some point and Franco’s comedic sensibilities also help, but the two have appeared in a variety of films from the action of Spider-Man to the family comedy of The Princess Diaries, so anything is possible. The other interesting aspect lies in the fact that Franco has a good chance to be nominated for Best Actor from his performance in 127 Hours and Hathaway is somewhat in the running for a Best Actress nod for Love and Other Drugs. Unless I’m mistaken, no host has simultaneously been nominated at the very ceremony they are hosting, so that’s some sort of added bonus. I guess we’ll find out when the Oscars air on ABC on February 27, 2011.
