Abigail “Abby” Sunderland (born October 19, 1993) is an American sailor who in 2010 attempted to become the youngest person to sail solo around the world.  When Sunderland rounded Cape Horn on 31 March 2010 she was the youngest solo sailor ever to have done so.  Her brother Zac Sunderland was the first person younger than age 18 to complete a circumnavigation.

Sunderland initially set sail from Marina del Rey, California in her 40-foot boat Wild Eyes on January 23, 2010 but had to stop in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. She restarted her circumnavigation on February 6, 2010, planning to sail solo, non-stop and unassisted, leaving from and returning to Cabo San Lucas, but autopilot problems then forced Sunderland to stop at Cape Town for repairs.  This ended her non-stop attempt, but she still had a good chance of becoming the youngest circumnavigator, although not non-stop.

On June 10, 2010 while sailing in heavy seas and high winds in a remote area of the Indian Ocean, her sailboat was dismasted and she activated her two manual emergency EPIRB distress beacons, triggering a search and rescue effort. She was rescued two days later, almost four and a half months after setting sail from Marina del Rey.

She had announced plans to write and publish a book about the journey.  After her rescue, Sunderland said she hoped to make another attempt at circumnavigation some time in the future.

10 + 19 +2+0+0+9 = 40 = her personal year (from October 19th, 2009 to October 18th, 2010) = Rescue.  Help me.  Brother [Zac].  Loving kindness.  Helping out your fellow human being.

40 year + 5 (May) = 45 = her personal month (from May 19th, 2010 to June 18th, 2010) = Educate yourself.  Figure it out.  Work smarter – not harder.  Working long hours.  Investing time and energy.  Toughen up.  Deep impact.  Powerful force.  Maximum intensity.  Pump up the volume.  Go where the energy is.  Life-affirming.  The school of hard knocks.  Trial & error.  Every cloud has a silver lining.  Count not what is lost but what is left.  Accepting loss.  Let it go.  What is not.  Shades of gray.  Like there is a black cloud hanging over your head.  You’re being hard on yourself.  I feel really bad about that.  Suffering in silence.  Feel sorry for.  Ouch.  That’s gotta hurt.  Uh oh.  I have a bad feeling about this.  Spider sense is tingling.  Heart sinks.  Deep sinking feeling.  Things go horribly wrong.  expectations > reality = disappointment

using the number/letter grid:

1      2      3       4       5       6      7      8      9

A = 1              J = 1              S = 1

B = 2              K = 2             T = 2

C = 3              L = 3             U = 3

Each letter of the first (and middle) name rules 9 years of life.  Ages 9 to 18 are ruled by the sum of the second letter of the name and the month of birth.

2 (b is the 2nd letter of the alphabet) + 10 (October) = 12

So from ages 9 to 18 she has the numbers 2 (b), 10 (October) and 12 (2+10=12) going on.

2 = Empathy.  Understanding.  Silent knowing.

10 = Go with the flow.  Opportunity knocks.  Seize the opportunity.  Window of opportunity.  There is a time and place for everything.  Something for nothing.  It’s on the house.  Roll the dice.  Take your chances.  Things fall into place.  When luck offers a finger, one must take the whole hand.  You’ll never know your luck ’til the wheel stops.  What’s bad luck for one is good luck for another.  Luck of the draw.  A turn for the better/worse.  You win some, you lose some.  Twist of fate.  Destiny is not a matter of chance, it’s a matter of choice.  Reversal of fortune.  Easy come, easy go.  Luck and bad luck are driving in the same sledge.

12 = Faith.  Trust.  Believing.  Believer.  Enlightenment.  Self-surrender.  Rishi.  Seer.  Saints.  Prophets.  Mediums.  Suspending doubt.  Suspending disbelief.  Act of faith.  Leap of faith.  Aura.  Different.  Phenomenon.  Reversals.  Seeing is believing.  Thy Will be done.  Faith makes you act in different ways.  Putting your faith in God.  Let go and let God.  In God we trust.  A true believer.  I know God won’t give me anything I can’t handle, I just wish God didn’t trust me so much.  To one who has faith, no explanation is necessary; to one without faith, no explanation is possible.  In faith there is light enough for those who want to believe and enough shadows to blind those who don’t.  Faith isn’t faith ’til it’s all you’re holding on to.  Faith means belief in something concerning which doubt is possible.  Wait and see.  I’ll believe it when I see it.  When in doubt, do nothing.
