numerology and astrology for James Van Praagh

James Van Praagh claims to be a medium. He has written several best-selling books on spirituality and spirit communication, which have been translated into over 50 languages.

In the 1995 NBC television series The Other Side, Van Praagh was introduced as the first American medium ever to perform readings on the air, and quickly became the series favorite[citation needed]. Howard Rosenberg, the Los Angeles Times television critic, dubbed Van Praagh’s performances “spectacular.”

In December 1997, Van Praagh became the first medium to appear on Larry King Live to promote his first book, Talking To Heaven. From 2002 to 2003, he hosted a syndicated daytime talk show entitled Beyond With James Van Praagh, which is still seen around the world in syndication. He subsequently partnered with CBS to produce several TV-movies and mini-series based on his life and experiences, including Living With The Dead and The Dead Will Tell.

He developed and is currently the co-executive producer of the television series Ghost Whisperer on CBS and occasionally appears as a special correspondent for the CBS television series The Insider and Entertainment Tonight.

Early life and career

Van Praagh was born in Bayside, New York and is the youngest of four children. Raised Roman Catholic he attended seminary at the age of 14; however, he has described himself as experiencing spiritual phenomena from a young age that eventually drew him away from conventional religious practice.

He graduated from San Francisco State University, majoring in Broadcasting and Communications, and subsequently moved to Los Angeles. It was there that he first discovered an interest in metaphysics[1] and began working as a medium following a prediction by another medium who suggested it was his destiny.[2]

Van Praagh built his early career performing private readings and quickly graduated to wider audiences with a series of audiotapes, books, and eventually the television appearances that gave him national exposure.

Career as a medium

On an episode of the radio show Loveline Van Praagh said his first reading came in first grade. He claims to have told his teacher her son had been hit by a car, but was OK and had only suffered a broken leg. The teacher told him to sit down, but a few minutes later the principal told her that her son had, in fact, been in an accident, and broken a leg.

Van Praagh claims that through his mediumistic abilities he receives messages from spirits and feelings about their presence that provide “detailed evidential proof that a loved one survived death.”[2]

In 2002, he hosted his own daytime talk show, Beyond with Van Praagh,[3] in which he gave readings to audience members.

His work continued to inspire his own brand of successful television shows with CBS and produced the miniseries Living With The Dead and The Dead Will Tell, and the CBS drama Ghost Whisperer.

Van Praagh also hosts regular seminars and workshops to assist others in developing spiritual awareness.

Personal life

On the Larry King Live episode on May 26, 2009, it was revealed that Van Praagh was in a same-sex marriage.

Criticism

Critics of Van Praagh accuse him of using the mentalism technique of cold reading to simulate psychic powers.[4][5] They point to several incidents in which Van Praagh’s claims have been wrong, such as when he suggested to the parents of the abducted Shawn Hornbeck that the boy’s body might be found in a railroad car.[6] Hornbeck was found alive four years later, having been abducted but not killed, and the kidnapper was not a railroad plant worker as Van Praagh had suggested.[7] Van Praagh has responded by asserting that his messages are often vague and hard to interpret and sometimes he mistakes their meaning.

His Abilities

His very natural, easy-going style would lead you to believe that James Van Praagh is chatting with a friend on the telephone, not communicating messages from the grave. James is a survival evidence medium, meaning that he is able to bridge the gap between two planes of existence, that of the living and that of the dead, by providing evidential proof of life after death via detailed messages. “I’m clairsentient,” he explains, “which simply means clear feeling. I feel the emotions and personalities of the deceased. I am also clairvoyant,” he adds, clarifying that, “the first is feeling, the second is seeing, very much like Whoopi Goldberg in the movie, Ghost.” The true essence of the messages are the feelings behind the words. James is an expert on this subject, since he has been in touch with those feelings most of his adult life. “The spirits communicate by their emotions. No words exist in the English language, or any other for that matter, which can describe the intense sensations.”

Personality traits come in as well. If a person was talkative while alive, he will come through with plenty to say. James also relays physical traits and death conditions as evidence. “If I convey recognizable evidence along with even a fraction of the loving energy behind the message, I consider the reading successful.”

James’ public popularity began during his appearances on the NBC talk show The Other Side. The show concentrated on paranormal issues, and James became the favorite guest and resident expert on the subject of life after death. Even Howard Rosenberg, the Los Angeles Times distinguished television critic, dubbed James “spectacular”.

Through the years his message of hope has touched a great many more people due to his television appearances on such shows as Oprah, Larry King Live, Dr. Phil, A&E Biography, Maury Povich, 20/20, and 48 Hours. His unique paranormal experiences during the past twenty-five years have seen him author best-selling books, create meditation programs and development videos, teach mediumship classes, conduct seminars to sold-out audiences, and produce successful television projects.

Early Life

James was born in Bayside, New York, and is the youngest of four children. An average child, he remembers having a tremendous fascination with death. He was raised Catholic and served as an altar boy, entering the seminary at the age of fourteen. It was there that his interest in Catholicism ended and his sense of spirituality began. There are no schools or training that could prepare James for his unusual vocation. Indeed, his ability to communicate with the dead arose out of his…well…life. This belief was affirmed by an astonishing encounter that he had when he was only 8-years-old. The young boy was praying for God to reveal Himself to him, when an open hand appeared through the ceiling of James’ room emitting radiant beams of light. Incredibly, he recounts, “I wasn’t scared. It was actually very peaceful.”

Graduating from public high school, he continued to pursue his studies and later graduated from San Francisco State University with a degree in Broadcasting and Communications. You could say that he ended up working in Communications, just in a different capacity. After graduation, he moved to Los Angeles where he became involved in metaphysics and psychic phenomena. At 24, the promise of that outstretched palm so many years before was fulfilled.

Realizing The Gift

During his early days in Los Angeles, James was invited to attend a session with a medium, although he didn’t even know at that time what a medium was. Given that, he was understandably dubious when the medium informed James that he would be doing the same work within two years. “My first reaction was, I have enough trouble dealing with the living; why do I want to talk to the dead?” As James’ sensitivity increased, he began doing psychic readings for friends. During these readings, he began receiving detailed messages from the beyond. Though at first this seemed bizarre, the more he learned, the more he could not deny the fact that he had the gift to reach beyond the familiar plane of existence we call life. Today, James is recognized as one of the foremost mediums in the world.

Naturally, there remain skeptics about his abilities. James, however, is the first to say that he welcomes healthy skepticism, declaring, in fact, that he is a skeptic himself. “I believe that I am doing this, but I don’t believe that just anyone can do this. All mediums are psychics, but not all psychics are mediums.”

A psychic senses energy around the living people or objects. A medium not only senses energy, but is able to interface between the slower vibrations of the physical world and the much faster ones of the spirit world.

Though James is quick to point out that his gift does not provide insights into the future, he is able to provide detailed evidential proof that a loved one survived death. Surviving death may seem to be the supreme oxymoron, but he has a firm belief that we are all spirit beings, and that there is far more to our life than our life span.

Ultimately, James feels extremely fortunate to be a conduit of comfort, healing, and most importantly, love. “As a medium, I have never experienced anything but love and compassion and healing in my work,” he avows. “It is the love bond between people which allows me to make the connection between the living and the dead.”

Sharing The Understanding

James’ unique paranormal experiences during the past twenty-five years have been recorded in his best-selling books Talking To Heaven, Reaching To Heaven, and Healing Grief. His fourth book is the proclaimed Heaven and Earth – Making the Psychic Connection. In September 2003, teens were introduced to Looking Beyond: A Teen’s Guide to the Spiritual World. In November of that same year his book Meditations with James Van Praagh brought a new awareness to the meditation experience. His newest book, Ghosts Among Us, was released to critical acclaim in May 2008 and quickly landed on the New York Times Bestseller list and #1 on Amazon.com Bestseller list.

James shared his extraordinary gift on television with a daytime talk show of his own entitled Beyond With James Van Praagh. The show aired in the U.S. from September 2002 through September 2003 and is still showing in syndication in Europe, Australia and South America.

In April 2002, James began an ongoing relationship with the CBS network and produced an incredibly successful mini-series Living With The Dead, inspired by his first book Talking To Heaven. This mini-series starred Ted Danson and Mary Steenburgen and was the highest rated show for CBS in two years. In October 2004 his second successful CBS project aired entitled The Dead Will Tell starring Anne Heche.

Currently James is Co-Executive Producing his first CBS primetime series Ghost Whisperer starring Jennifer Love Hewitt. This show premiered in September 2005 and has become the #1 Friday night drama for CBS. It began its third season in September 2007. It is currently seen in over 200 markets worldwide.

To assist others in spiritual awareness, James travels the world teaching mediumship development classes, hosting spiritual cruises, and conducting sold-out seminars. He takes pride in having built a web site that encourages spiritual learning, grief support and friendships through its many online communities, resources and activities.

“The books, CDs, seminars, classes, web site and television projects are ways to share my abilities and the message that our personalities do indeed survive death. My greatest satisfaction in doing this work is witnessing an instantaneous change in people,” states James about his work.

“When someone is alone and overwhelmed by grief, life seems over. But, when I’m able to help teach someone to make contact with a loved one, their grief and loneliness disappears and proper closure can take place.”

And so…”When a bright smile overcomes tears, it becomes a smile that can light up the world!”

What is a Medium?

One of the most common questions I am asked is what is the difference between a medium and a psychic. The term “psychic” is often used as a catchall phrase for anyone who works in the paranormal. We know what our five senses are – sight, hearing, taste, touch and smell. But we have another sense that is equally as real as the other five. Often referred to as our sixth sense, psychic ability, or our intuition, is the gut feeling or hunch you have that you cannot logically explain. Everyone is psychic to some degree or another, but not everyone is a medium.

A medium is a psychic who has fine-tuned his or her extrasensory perception and can interface with the spirits in other dimensions. They are able to feel and/or hear thoughts, voices or mental impressions from the spirit world. A medium is able to become completely receptive to the higher frequency or energies on which spirit people vibrate.

Mediumship is much more involved than psychicism because a medium is opening him/herself to a discarnate energy. Mediumship itself can be broken down into two distinct categories. The first and most common type is mental mediumship, which is how I work with my abilities. I communicate with spirits while fully conscious. As the word mental denotes, this form of mediumship utilizes the mind – the intuitive mind, not the rational or logical part. This type of mental mediumship falls into several distinct types which are described as:

Clairsentience – (clear feeling) Perceive information by way of strong, emphatic feelings and emotions from spirit.

Clairvoyant – (clear vision) See with the mind’s eye objects, colors, symbols, people, spirits or scenes. These pictures are not visible to the naked eye and usually flash into the medium’s mind.

Clairaudient – (clear hearing) Perceive sounds or words from sources broadcasting from a spiritual realm.

Clairempathy – (clear emotion) Sense or “feel” within one’s self the attitude or emotions of another person.

Clairgustance – (clear tasting”) Discern the essence of a substance through taste from spirit.

Clairscent – (clear smelling). Smell a fragrance or odor coming from the spirit.

Clairtangency – (clear touching) This ability is commonly known as Psychometry. By holding an object or touching an area you perceive information about the article or its owner or history through the palms of your hands.

In my work I most often utilize the abilities of clairsentience and clairvoyance. In order to attune to the thoughts and feelings of spirit, I raise my vibrations higher through meditation and, in turn, spirit has to lower its vibrations somewhat.

The second type of mediumship is physical mediumship and it differs from mental mediumship. In physical mediumship the actually physical body is used to get information from spirit. In mental mediumship only the mind of the medium is utilized. Channeling is a well-known form of physical mediumship. A trance medium is another type of physical medium. A trance medium is someone who goes into a trance state to relay messages from the other side.

Certain individuals are more prone to mediumship than others. Usually they must develop mediumship skills over a period of time. In my book Heaven and Earth: Making the Psychic Connection I share personal techniques to help you develop your own natural psychic abilities.

Biography

American trance-medium who speaks to disincarnate spirits. Perhaps the most famed medium of the ’90s, he has appeared on many TV shows, including “The Other Side” and “Unsolved Mysteries,” and is a huge draw on talk shows and at expositions. Wherever he appears, hundreds gather hoping for a word of comfort, a shred of communication from their deceased loved ones. Though skeptics doubt that Van Praagh can talk to the dead, his message obviously touches a spiritual need in his followers.

Van Praagh (rhymes with frog) claims that he tunes in to the higher-faster-vibrating frequency of the spirit world where he not only communicates with the spirits but sees the heavenly world they inhabit, “a beautiful world with houses and mansions, forests and flowers.” He describes his abilities as clairsentience and clairvoyance.

His first book, “Talking to Heaven: A Medium’s Message of Life after Death” climbed to the top of the New York Times bestseller list. He made such a splash during his December 1997 appearance on the “Larry King Show” that he was booked for a repeat performance just three weeks later. His popularity grew so rapidly that Van Praagh had to discontinue most of his private practice, the 90-minute sessions for which he charged $250.00, although he kept some of his celebrity clients. In October of 1999, he played host on the “Voyages of Enlightenment,” a seven-day cruise for 150 clients who paid $2,800 to $6,000 for their accommodations. Continuing to capture public attention, he worked with NBC on a 2002 TV miniseries based on his life, “Living with the Dead” followed by “The Dead Will Tell” in 2004. In addition to his own daytime TV series “Beyond with James Van Praagh,” he has created several other media projects including CDs, tapes, and videos. Most recently he has co-produced a 2005-6 TV series “Ghost Whisperer” based on his experiences.

Raised in Queens, NY, Van Praagh was the youngest of four kids born to Alan, a retired Broadway stagehand and Regina, a homemaker who died in 1988. He acknowledges a tremendous fascination with death from an early age. His dad was a distant figure to him and his mom an alcoholic, so the boy took comfort in the spirit visions which he first saw one night when he was eight. Raised a Catholic, he claims that his interest in his religion ended, and his spirituality began, when he entered a junior seminary at age 14. Leaving after just one year, he attended public schools and graduated from San Francisco State University in 1982 with a major in broadcasting. For ten years he worked as an aspiring screenwriter doing menial jobs at the William Morris Agency and Paramount. In 1992, he paid his first visit to a medium, when the spirits said, “We’ll take care of you if you do your work.” He quit his job and became a full-time medium himself, soon attracting a clientele that included some of Hollywood’s finest. He never had to advertise but word spread like wildfire. He soon had his first TV booking plus a book contract. After his first book was published in 1997, his success was assured.

Van Praagh was married briefly and divorced in 1996. He continues to write books, lecture, and use the media to broadcast his message that there is life after death and that the dead communicate with the living.

North Node numbers

His North Node numbers are 68 and 72 because in his astrological natal/birth chart his North Node is in the third decan (last ten degrees) of the tenth house (using equal houses).  When his astrological birth chart is overlayed on the circle grid on page 264 of the book Numerology and the Divine Triangle by Faith Javane and Dusty Bunker, his North Node lands on the numbers 68 and 72.

68 = Learning.  Studying.  Education.  Student.  School.  College.  University.  Campus.  Scholar.  Academic.  Academia.  Library.  Educated.  Well learned.  Book smart.  Graduate.  Tutor.  Pupil.  Professor.  Educator.  Lettered.  PhD.  Highly educated.  Seminar.  Curriculum.  Syllabus.  Courses.  Classes.  Homework.  Research.

72 = Frugal.  Thrifty.  Economical.  Financially conservative.  Millionaire mind.  Holding firm.  Traditional.  Conventional.

So the combination of 68 and 72 means by educating people (in his case about mediumship (12 (his primary need (J+V+P = 12)))) he is able to become a millionaire.

The Other Side

“Then,” recalls Shoemaker, “he was on ‘The Other Side.’ ”

The NBC show was inspired by a Roper poll that found a striking number of Americans believed in flying saucers and other such phenomena–16% reported having had personal contact with aliens. So the show booked the full range of paranormal personalities: people who insisted they’d been abducted by spacemen, people who had goblins in their attics, people who claimed miraculous cures for diseases, people who survived near-death experiences, and so on.

One of the producers, Annie Azzariti, recalls how Van Praagh came on the radar screen: He called. In fact, he’d called before, after she did a segment on another show, “Unsolved Mysteries,” showcasing medium George Anderson, who had written a book called “We Don’t Die.” Van Praagh said that if she ever needed someone else for a spot like that . . . .

“I told him, ‘I don’t think we’re going to do another,’ ” Azzariti said. But when “The Other Side” was in development, he “somehow heard . . . and tracked me down.” Though she got calls from “a lot of nuts,” instinct told her to give this guy a tryout–a personal reading with her. He then began talking about how “my grandmother really liked that painting of the flower next to the bathroom.” Boom–he was on the air.

No guest drew a response anything like Van Praagh’s. From the moment he was put on in November 1994, “our phones were completely blocked there were so many calls,” Azzariti said. “Thousands of calls from all over the country.”

—————————————————————————————–

At first glance the horoscope of James Van Praagh is normal.  Yet the main individual characteristics are great wealth, public recognition, charisma,  intuition, unusual communications, and an exceptional interest in the spirits of the dead people.

When analyzing deeply a Horoscope is extremely important to realize and evaluate certainty the blend between the symbolisms of the Sun and the Moon. In fact, it describes the actual life energy that flows into the condition of life, working for the survival and the fulfillment of the personal needs.

In Praagh birth chart we are able to perceive that he born with a Sagittarius Moon-Virgo Sun blend. The Virgo Sun is placed at the eighth house and it also rules the 8 th house. The  stellium configuration located in this same house  provides me triple information  that puts him at a higher position than others.

Why?

The Plutonian influence over his personality  is crucial. Pluto besides being connected to one of the most significant point of any Horoscope, the Ascendant which is our personal house, the self-projection, the identidy, it  is as well conjoint the Sun ( !!:..).

Interpretatively, this conjunction suggests a focus of the symbolisms of the two at the same position. In this case {Sun cj.Pluto} what is suggested is that conditions in life urged for a major change of perspective, usually through some overpowering  of life events, during a private consultation time.

The Southern hemisphere emphasis tells me that during his  early development he was pushed around, controlled or victimized by experiences in the world and if I were his astrologer I would ask him why there is no anchor although I suspect from where they come from…

The birth chart also denotes a Western emphasis. When this happens we can expect that the personal life is conditioned around Ego projection and justification to others, perhaps to the extent of leaving the Self behind. He needs to interact with others.

Frequently, the individual seems to be a pawn of fate, of chance, things “happen” all the time because of the constant interaction with others than through one’s own initiative.

The Virgo Sun-Sagittarius Moon has specific traits. It gives to the owner the mental deeply process- deep thoughts and concentration, deep emotionality, intensity- 8th house energies. Also, because of the Sagittarius Moon the personality is qualified with a particular need of adventure, romance and excitement into the life perspective. Someone with this link is challenged to get down to the bottom of things and to learn new ideas in order to be used later on for growth and recognition.

The Sun establishes a particular kind of energy in terms of its zodiacal sign and the Moon receives that specific energy into the process of the Moon’s sign. This blend is distributed throughout our personal system of needs, according to our lived experience to keep us alive and on the way to fulfillment.

The basic meaning of the 8 th house is others’ resources, self.worth and value, experiences and matters relating to death, sex along with the 5 th house. Mars being the Singleton within a Bucket formation and the handle of the bucket, it controls and dominates the action.

His way of expression, the usual modality, is in a fixed mode –{8 planets} This mode has the connotation of organization, stolidity, rootedness, fixity, stability and solidarity.

On the other hand the faculty of communicating represented by Mercury symbolism is extraordinarily well situated. Thus, Mercury is conjoint the 29º Leo- Regulus degree bestowing him attributes similar to Venus or Jupiter connections. The planets here situated will be fortunate and likely to show success.

In reality, Regulus is in fact one of the four royal stars. It is known as the “star of kings” and it is the most important of the four. It promises success, independence and when close to the luminaries, which is the case{cj the Sun} , the better qualities of the star will be visible.

It is also fundamental to realize that Mercury and the Sun are in mutual reception {<> notation}. This special connection between the two energies confers him illumination of intelligence.

I don’t want to finish this incredible Horoscope without mention you that if you observe the 90º Midpoint Pictures you will notice that he has AP (Aries Point)=Jupiter/Pluto. This terrific midpoint when situated at Aries Point promises and suggests that fortune and abundance of resources could likely be visible.

This is exactly what occurred at James Van Praagh’s life
