The newest Bond girl, Berenice Marlohe, has promised that Skyfall, the forthcoming release of 007′s latest adventure, will be “one of the better, if not the best” Bond films ever created.

“Fans really can expect all the key ingredients that have made this franchise last for 50 years – action, sense of humor, the characters are very high in colours,” Marlohe — who appears in the new 007 movie opposite Daniel Craig — told reporters at the Cannes Film Festival on May 21. “They have a fantastic cast and a fantastic director. They really can expect one of the better, if not the best Bond ever. I really think they will really enjoy it.”

Though Skyfall, the 23rd James Bond film, isn’t slated to hit theaters until November 9th, fans at the Cannes Film Festival were given a special treat as the movie’s official teaser trailer was introduced.

In the Skyfall trailer, which lasts just one minute and twenty seconds, Bond is seen being interrogated by an unnamed character while M – played by Dame Judi Dench – watches on. The teaser clip then launches into an action-packed montage featuring a healthy dose of gunfights and explosions before ending with Bond looking towards the camera and saying:

“Some men are coming to kill us – we’re going to kill them first.”

While Marlohe, who plays Severine in new film, was tight-lipped about her own character’s role in Skyfall, she had nothing but praise when asked what it was like working with Daniel Craig.

“He’s a wonderful guy, he’s very serious while working but at the same time he has a great sense of humour and beautiful humanity,” she said. “He’s truly a great person. All of those things are what makes someone sexy or attractive.”

In addition to the Skyfall trailer Cannes Film Festival attendees also enjoyed a special screening of From Russia With Love — the second James Bond spy film — presented by original Bond girl Martine Beswick.

We reported earlier that the official title for the new James Bond movie, the 23rd film in the series, was announced at a press conference today as “Skyfall.” Also introduced at this packed event, which took place at London’s swanky Corinthia Hotel at Whitehall Place, were the newest additions to the long line of Bond girls. They are French actress Bérénice Marlohe (left) and British actress Naomie Harris (right). This will be the first English-language film for the 21-year-old Marlohe, who is mostly known for her appearance on various French television series. 35-year-old Harris has been acting since she was a little girl. She starred in the British sci-fi series “The Tomorrow People” and got a lot of attention for her lead role in Danny Boyle’s “28 Days Later” opposite Cillian Murphy. She has appeared in two of the “Pirates of the Caribbean” sequels and earlier this year starred in a new adaption of “Frankenstein” at London’s Royal National Theatre that was directed by Danny Boyle.

Dame Judi Dench (Bond’s boss, M) and Javier Bardem (the spy’s latest nemesis) were also on hand at the news conference along with director Sam Mendes. Production begins on Monday for the film which will  be shot at Pinewood Studios but also feature international locations including Scotland, China, and Turkey.

No word yet on Bérénice Marlohe’s character’s name. Will it follow the bawdy tradition set by Bond girls Pussy Galore, Plenty O’Toole, or Holly Goodhead? Stricly speaking, Naomie Harris will not really be a Bond girl since she is slated to play a field agent in the film and not Daniel Craig’s love interest, but we’ll see how things develop—James Bond usually gets the girl no matter what her role. Dozens of women have played Bond girls since the series began more than four decades ago, with many going on to bigger and better things. Famous Bond girls of the past include Ursula Andress, Diana Rigg, Jane Seymour, Teri Hatcher, and Halle Berry.

The cast of “Skyfall” also includes Albert Finney and Ralph Fiennes. The film is scheduled to be released on November 9, 2012.
