Kimberly Sawyer traded her softball helmet for the Miss Wisconsin 2010 crown. On Saturday night, the Door County native walked across the Alberta Kimball Auditorium stage for one last time before crowning Laura Kaeppeler as Miss Wisconsin 2011.

Kaeppeler, of Kenosha, who was Miss Southern Wisconsin, won a $10,000 college scholarship and will represent the state at the 2012 Miss America Scholarship Pageant.

Twenty-one local pageant winners competed in three rounds of the 2011 Miss Wisconsin Scholarship Pageant, which started Wednesday.

The Miss Wisconsin Pageant’s Board of Directors is pleased to announce that the current Miss America, Caressa Cameron, will serve as Mistress of Ceremonies for the 2011 Miss Wisconsin Scholarship Pageant and Miss Wisconsin’s Outstanding Teen Pageant taking place June 15-18 in Oshkosh.  Caressa will participate in all pageant activities, including assisting Miss Wisconsin 2010, Kimberly Sawyer, with crowning the 2011 Princesses during a special ceremony.

Caressa is a native of Fredericksburg, Virginia, and competed in the Miss Virginia Pageant four times before winning the state title in 2009.  She’s currently traveling the country, promoting her platform of “Real Talk: AIDS in America”, a cause close to her heart because she experienced an uncle’s death to this tragic disease.  She’s also promoting the Children’s Miracle Network, the official platform of the Miss America  Organization.
