Chadwick Halstead

Deckhand, Steve Irwin

Chad Halstead, 25, was born and raised in Philadelphia. Chad is a long-time animal rights activist, ethical vegan and adventure seeker, who believes that only our actions of today will make the difference in our world tomorrow. As a crewmember on the deck department and driver of the Delta (small boat), he had joined Sea Shepherd to do his part in resistance against the common destruction of this world’s lands and oceans. With an interest in Arctic travel and life at sea, he was more than comfortable spending months in the Southern Ocean defending whales.

When not on the ship, Chad is surfing, painting, enjoying life with friends and looking forward to the upcoming campaigns with hopes to influence changes not only in the oceans, but the way people consume and dispose of their resources on land as well. He believes that oceans, rivers, lakes, marshlands, beaches and forests are all interconnected, and unless people find ways to reduce their impact on the environment, everything will soon fail. Chad encourages everyone to be a part of the solution and not the problem.
