Fourteen year old amatuer Curren Caples performs during the Skateboard Park Elimination at the Event Deck at LA LIVE during X Games 16 on July 30, 2010 in Los Angeles, California.
Curren Caples is one of the best young skateboarders out there right now, especially in transition. And there’s a contest coming up that will feature 30 of the best tranny skaters in the business on the beach skating one of the best bowl setups around. The Converse Coastal Carnage Bowl Jam is a 3 day event at the US Open of Surfing with $75,000 in prize money up for grabs, and Mr. Caples is one of the invitees.
In an ironic little side note, the person Curren is named after, none other than pro surfing legend, Tom Curren, has stood on top of the podium with a 1st place check in his hands at the US Open a few times. Now, a little over a decade later there’s another Curren about to make waves at the same contest site, but this one will be on wood and wheels.
Check out this interview Hurley did with Curren. He talks about skateboarding, surfing, migraines, money and more.
