Eddie Redmayne Eddie Redmayne Wins Tony Awards

Eddie Redmayne is an actor and model with English roots who recently won the prestigious Tony Awards 2010 for his role in the play entitled Red. He began his career at the age of 22 where he debuted in his role in Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre in “Twelfth Night”. He also won Outstanding Newcomer at the 50th Evening Standard Theatre Awards in 2004 and Best Newcomer at the Critics’ Circle Theatre Awards in 2005 for his performance for the “Goat” or “Who is Sylvia?”.

He also had a television series and movies from 2006 to present. In 2009, his Sundance hit The Yellow Handkerchief by Samuel Goldwyn Films was released in theaters on 26 February 2010. In the same year Redmayne appeared in the cast of John Logan’s new play the Red at the Donmar Warehouse, he then won the 2010 Olivier Award for Best Actor in a Supporting Role. In reviving his role in Red at the John Golden Theatre in a 15-week long run from 11 March to 27 June 2010, he won the 2010 Tony Award for Best Performance by a Featured Actor in a Play.

Other winners include Scarlett Johansson, Denzel Washington, Viola Davis, Levi Kreis, and Katie Finneran. The Tony Awards is recognition for actors and actresses who excel in their performances in American theater which is now on its 26th year.
