Live Blogging the Academy of Country Music Awards from Las Vegas

11:19: Brad Paisley set a record for fourth consecutive award for best male vocalist. he says tonight feels like a dream. “Before the show, they said, you’re going to fall in. Don’t bend your knees, you’ll hit your head,” of falling back into the pool. He notes this is a strong time for women in country music, “which is something I’m very happy about,” noting how pleased he is that his buddy Carrie Underwood won entertainer of the year and that Taylor Swift took home the same award from the Country Music Assn. last fall. Paisley’s tour this summer is a blockbuster with two stages of acts– six artists every night–including Easton Corbin on the second stage, or as Paisley called him, “Aston Martin.” “I really hope that people leave there feeling they got 10 times what they bargained for.” Paisley is singing “Working on my Next Broken Heart” at the Brooks & Dunn tribute.

Hello Country Music fans!  Yet another one of the major Country Music Awards shows has graced us with its presence.  I swear, I could enjoy one of these shows every month if they would air it!  I never have been disappointed by the production compared to other major music awards shows out there.  The talent is so good and the music is great.  Can’t ask for much more than that! This annual event comes to us LIVE from the MGM Grand Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas and was hosted by the always entertaining Reba McEntire.

Darius Rucker ends things with “Forever Road”.   I’ve loved that dude since Hootie and the Blowfish.  But his solo career is off to a great start!  Great way to end the night!

Toby Keith gave a heartrending tribute to NBA player and jazz bass guitar great Wayman Tisdale with his song “Cryin’ for Me” at the 2010 Academy of Country Music awards.

Tisdale passed away on May 15, 2009 after a two-year battle with osteosarcoma (cancer in his knee). He had his leg amputed from the disease in 2008 but never stopped fighting to beat the cancer. He is survived by his wife REgina and four children.

Toby Keith dedicated his 2009 album “American Ride” to Tisdale and wrote “Cryin’ for Me (Wayman’s Song)” in his memory. Toby Keith and Dave Koz, a jazz saxophone player, performed the tribute song for the 2010 ACM awards. We’ll post video just as soon as it becomes available but for now, check out the music video for “Cryin’ for Me.”

Former Broadway-turned-country singer Laura Bell Bundy popped up for her big country debut during the 45th Annual Academy of Country Music Awards Sunday evening. Bundy performed her hit single “Giddy On Up” wearing a hot, cowgirl leather two-piece alongside a troupe of dancers with line dance choreography – Something Bundy calls bringing “a little Beyonce” to the country music genre.

“I am so freaking excited about tonight!” Bundy tweeted before the show. “I will be thinking of all of you when I do my cooter slam!”

Bundy, who got her start on the Broadway stage, is best known for her musical roles in Hairspray and as “Elle Woods” in Legally Blonde – The Musical. Bundy’s first country music intro was made to Mercury Records in early 2010, prior to the release of her Billboard dominating hit single, “Giddy On Up”. Bundy’s first song hit #60 the first week and eventually turned into a music video by Shane Drake, as a part of her album release, “Achin’ and Shakin'”, released on April 13, 2010.
