A man and woman from Sudbury, Ont., are facing charges of animal cruelty after their dog died in a parked car.
The dog was left in a vehicle at the Vaughan Mills Mall, north of Toronto, as temperatures outside soared to 32 C.
Officials said the temperature inside the car would have been much higher.
A passerby alerted security personnel who opened the car, but the one-year-old Labrador died a short time later.
Matthieu Arbour, 21, and Angele Lazurko, 20, have been charged with causing unnecessary suffering to an animal.
They were released and are due in a Newmarket, Ont., court July 10.
