Andres Iniesta

February 6, 2013

Andres Iniesta has said his dream has always been to spend the remainder of his playing days at Barcelona.

Recent weeks have seen Barca team-mates Xavi Hernandez and Carles Puyol sign new contract extensions, with Lionel Messi due to put pen to paper on an improved and extended deal on Thursday.

Iniesta’s current contract, signed in 2009, runs until 2015 and Mundo Deportivo reported last month that talks with his agent Ramon Sostres about extending that arrangement for a further two years had already begun.

The 2010 World Cup winner, now 28, joined Barca’s La Masia academy aged 12 and made his first team debut in December 2002. He told Argentine radio station Radio La Red on Tuesday that he had always seen himself spending his whole career at the Catalan club.

“I have always said that my desire and dream is to finish my career at Barca,” Iniesta said. “Time will tell how far I can go.”

Asked about speculation that recently suggested retired ex-Argentina defender Gabriel Milito, 32, was set to join Josep Guardiola’s back-room team at Bayern Munich next season, Iniesta praised his former Barca colleague.

He said: “It would be great news if Gaby Milito joins Guardiola’s team, because he works very well with people.”

Iniesta also said he had never understood past criticisms of Messi’s performances for Argentina’s national side.

“He is vital for his national team,” he explained. “I never understood the criticism in Argentina towards Leo. It is difficult for him to play a bad game. It has always been difficult to understand it. But in the end it fell under its own weight.”

Andres Iniesta

July 11, 2010

Andres Iniesta dedicated his winning goal in the World Cup final to former Espanyol defender Dani Jarque, who died after suffering a heart attack in August 2009.

Iniesta scored in extra-time in Johannesburg’s Soccer City to give Spain a 1-0 victory over Netherlands and their first ever World Cup title. The triumph under Vicente del Bosque comes just two years after their victory at Euro 2008.

When Iniesta volleyed the ball past Maarten Stekelenburg he ripped off his kit to reveal a vest reading “Dani Jarque is always with us.” Iniesta explained that he did so to honour the memory of his deceased friend.

“The manner in which it happened, we gave everything,” Iniesta said. “To win the World Cup there are no words to describe it.

“This is for Dani Jarque, for my family, for all of the people. It is the result of hard work over a long time and some difficult moments.

“I can’t quite believe this yet. I had the opportunity to score that goal that was so important for my team, and it’s incredible. I’ve made a small contribution in a very tough game, a very rough game – there were all sorts of things happening on the pitch.

“Spain deserved to win this World Cup. It’s something we have to remember and enjoy, and should feel very proud of everyone in this squad. The manner in which it happened, we gave everything. To win the World Cup – there are no words to describe it.”

Spain’s World Cup triumph was foretold by Paul the psychic octopus, the resident of Sea Life Oberhausen who has famously correctly predicted all of Germany’s results at the World Cup finals.

When presented with two Perspex boxes, both containing mussels, he opened the one adorned with the flag of Spain rather than Netherlands on Friday.

Iniesta said: “As for the octopus, what can I say? We won. The octopus will be very popular in Spain.”

Cesc Fabregas came on as a substitute for Spain and set up Iniesta for his winning goal. The Arsenal midfielder said: “This is an historic moment. Many thanks to everyone [in the team], you are the best, I thank you.”

World Cup 2010 Final, Spain Vs. Netherlands: Andres Iniesta 116th Minute Goal Gives Spain 1-0 Lead

Andres Iniesta has scored four minutes from the end of extra time, scoring with his right-footed shot from 14 yards out to given Spain a 1-0 lead to put the Spaniards on the verge of their first World Cup.

The Dutch, attempting to play Iniesta offside, allowed a ball to be looped over the back line, giving Iniesta time to collect the pass and beat Maarten Stekelenburg toward the Dutch goalie’s far post.

Dutch defenders protested heavily that Iniesta was offside, earning Joris Mathijsen the Netherlands’ ninth booking of the final.  Replays showed Iniesta was onside when the pass was played.

Andres Iniesta and Xavi Hernandez had since picked-up yellow cards for Spain.

The match reamins 1-0, now in the 122nd minute.

his primary challenge = AI = 19 = Proud of his hard earned success.

So when his number (19 (his primary challenge)) comes up, that’s when he gets to live/experience what he is here to live/experience.  It is his 19 year (from May 11th, 2010 to May 10th, 2011), so this is HIS year!!!

—————————————————————————————-

Ages 0 to 27 are ruled by the sum of the first three letters of the name and the month of birth.

Andrés Iniesta        May 11th, 1984

1 (A is the 1st letter of the alphabet) + 14 (n is the 14th letter of the alphabet) + 4 (d is the 4th letter of the alphabet) + 5 (May) = 24

So from ages zero to twenty-seven he has the numbers 5 (May), 19 (the sum of the first three letters of the name), and 24 (5+19=24) going on.

5 = New experiences.

19 = Proud of his hard earned success.

So when his number (19 (his 19 personal year (May 11th, 2010 to May 10th, 2011))) comes up, that’s when he gets to live/experience what he is here to live/experience.  So this is HIS year!!!

                                       ———

24 = Dominating.  Taking charge.  In charge.

The team that is considered by many as the best in the world is proving it today.

Spain leads Chile 2-1 in the second half of their Group H matchup in the 2010 FIFA World Cup. Striker David Villa and midfielder Andres Iniesta have scored the goals for the Spanish side, who are facing a win-and-in scenario.

Villa’s goal in the 24th minute was one of the more spectacular deposits of the tournament. Defender Xabi Alonso hit a long pass up the field, hoping to connect with striker Fernando Torres. Chile goalkeeper Claudio Bravo came way out of the net to challenge the pass, but was only able to knock the ball a few yards up field to a waiting David Villa. Villa struck the ball from about 50 yards out and bent it into the open net, giving Spain the early 1-0 lead.

Iniesta scored in the 37th minute. The midfielder dribbled down the middle of the field before feeding the ball to Villa on the left edge of the box. Villa took a couple of dribbles before passing back to Iniesta near the top of the box, who struck the ball past Bravo and into the lower right corner of the net.

On the same play, Chile’s Marco Estrada received his second yellow card of the game and was sent off the field. The card was extremely questionable as Estrada appeared to slightly clip the heel of Fernando Torres, who dropped and stayed down while Iniesta’s goal was being scored.

Chile struck quickly in the second half as halftime substitute Rodrigo Millar scored from the top of the box in the 47th minute to cut the deficit in half. The strike took a deflection off of a Spanish defender and goalkeeper Iker Casillas didn’t have a chance to make a save.

Spain can claim the top spot in Group H with a victory. Chile, who currently leads the group, can still advance with a loss today due to goal differential.
