He once starred in films alongside stellar names such as Brad Pitt, Sean Connery and Tom Cruise.

But now, Christian Slater has reached possibly his lowest ever ebb with his latest movie offering.

The fading movie star, 43, suffered supreme embarrassment when his new indie horror flick, Playback, only managed to gross $264 at the U.S box office this year.

Poor old Christian has gone from being a Hollywood heartthrob to a has-been, but still has a lot of projects that he is involved in over the next few months.

However, his latest offering failed to compete with the million dollar making musical Les Miserables and spaghetti western Django Unchained.

Playback was only shown in one movie theatre and achieved an opening weekend box office tally of $252.

According to Box Office Mojo, it was only available at the movie theatre for one week and made a further 12 dollars during that time.

The average cost of a cinema ticket for 2012 in America was $7.94, which means that approximately 33 people viewed Payback.

The poor turnout is in stark contrast to the strong Christmas-day box office performances of Les Miserables and Django Unchained.

They helped put Hollywood on pace to set an all-time box office record with $10.8 billion in annual revenue.

Hollywood.com analyst Paul Dergarabedian said studios ‘are definitely on the road to a record year with $10.8 billion expected (up 6 percent over last year and beating the previous record of $10.6 billion in 2009).’

He added that the number of tickets sold should climb 6 percent from 2011 to 1.36 billion.

Unfortunately this increase of ticket sales didn’t appear to have benefittd Slater’s dismal Payback.
